SPARK  ~  Thought of the Day:
Quote of the Day: If I have ever made any valuable discoveries, it has been owing more to patient attention than to any other talent.  ~ Isaac Newton

Essential Element: We must take control of the economy of our limited resources if we wish to experience a sense of balance in our lives [click here to read Spark Insight: Balance].

Journal:  What new discoveries have you made in your friendships lately? List in your journal three of your closest friends – those with whom you talk frequently. Jot down what new thing(s) you’ve learn about them in the last month.  If nothing: Devote some minutes to ‘patient attention’ in your conversations with these three people. If many: Congratulate yourself on being one patiently attentive friend.   [Click here for additional Journal exercises]

SPARK  ~  Thought of the Day:
Quote of the Day: It is not that love is blind.  It is that love sees with a painter’s eye, finding the essence that renders all else background.  ~ Robert Brault

Essential Element:  Unconditional Love is the purest expression of genuine acceptance.  It’s important to differentiate that Unconditional Love does not imply unconditional approval.  We should reserve the right to disapprove of another’s behavior, yet, without judgment, accept them and love them unconditionally  [click here to read Spark Insight: Unconditional Love].

Journal: All of us have people with whom we very much disagree. We couldn’t be more different, and don’t’ see eye –to-eye, at all. They may in fact reside within our extended family!  The mark of a healthy mental attitude on the deepest level is being able  to accept these people unconditionally – rather then letting them get under our skin. Is there someone whom you very outwardly disapprove of? Jot them down in your journal –  then write down how you will outwardly choose to demonstrate your love for them this week.   [Click here for additional Journal exercises]

SPARK  ~  Thought of the Day:

Essential Element: Well people don’t necessarily experience any less stress; they simply develop better strategies and coping mechanisms for dealing with it. [Click here to read Spark Insight: Coping Mechanisms]

Journal:  You get to thrive – but you don’t have to.  You were wired to survive – and you will. But thriving doesn’t come without a little intentionality. What does a thriving you look like? What does a day well-seized consist of? Envision in your journal a day you have completely taken by the reins ( either one in the past or one you’ve yet to live) -  then go carpe the heck out of today.   [Click here for additional Journal exercises] Spark photo credit: http://pinterest.com/pin/63120832247556697/

Quote of the Day:  Give thanks for sorrow that teaches you pity; for pain that teaches you courage – and give exceeding thanks for the mystery which remains a mystery still – the veil that hides you from the infinite, which makes it possible for you to believe in what you cannot see. ~ Robert Nathan
Essential Element: If our attitude reflects the belief that every circumstance provides an opportunity for growth, we can maintain a state of gratitude. [click here to read 'The Art of Gratitude']

Mountain Climbers, Lunges with Dumbbells, Push-Ups, Burpees

by admin
Scale Down: To make this workout easier, do Jumping Lunges instead of weighted lunges and do Modified Push Ups.
Scale Up: To make this workout harder, do the lunges with weights locked out over your head. Use a dumbbell or a kettlebell and increase to 5 rounds. For the air squat challenge, also hold the weight.

Burpees Over Bar

by admin

From down under in Australia, our dear friend Dr. Tony Croke, getting it done!

  • From a standing position, lower your body to the top of a pushup or modified pushup position and complete a pushup.
  • At the top of your pushup jump your feet forward and outside your hands so you land in the bottom of your squat position.
  • From the bottom of the squat, jump straight up in the air and clap your hands overhead
  • Land and repeat.
