SPARK  ~  Thought of the Day:
Quote of the Day: Sleep is the golden chain that ties health and our bodies together. ~Thomas Dekker

Essential Element: In order to ensure maximal complete sleep cycles, humans thrive best when we follow the Circadian Rhythm that is coiled deep inside your DNA.  Dictated by the light of the sun, this rhythm is a physiological set point that has promoted early to bed, early to rise, for millennia [click here to read Spark Insight: Restorative Sleep].

Journal: What was life like before the light-bulb? Clearly life by candle-light was a bit more romantic – but think about the rhythms created when the sun was our sole source of illumination. We woke with the sun; we went to bed when it went down; seasonal rhythms shifted in our bodies as they did with the earth. Things were in tune with each other – and hormones were happy. IN your journal, just consider what it would look like to tune your life to the sun’s rhythms.  What would you do with those sweet morning hours? What would you gain by going to bed when the sun did?   [Click here for additional Journal exercises]

Journal: Who is lifting you up? Who is pulling you down? Consider investing more time with people a. that draw out the best in you b. whose faith, character and integrity are equal to or greater than your own and c. whom you’d like your children to grow up and be similar to.  Jot three of their names down in your journal tonight – and make some time to spend with them!  [Click here for additional Journal exercises]

Take a minute today to reflect on the scenario you are in. Who is in it with you? What would the ideal outcome look like?  List these three things in your journal: 1. Quote of the Day: Two kinds of gratitude:  The sudden kind we feel for what we take; the larger kind we feel for what we give.  ~ Edwin Arlington Robinson

Essential Element: A Bonfire best practice is to role model gratitude, recognition and appreciation in our relationships.  Show others how we wish to be treated.  Be deliberate and discuss this openly with the people you care about. [click here to read Spark Insight: Gratitude]

Journal: Think about some of your most selfless friends. The ones that think of you – and are creative for you – and give you more than you could ask for. Write down the name of one or two friends like that – and next to that, why they are such remarkable friends to you. SPARK  ~  Thought of the Day:
Quote of the Day: The unthankful heart… discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings!  ~Henry Ward Beecher

Essential Element: Too often we become totally associated to our outcomes – what we are getting out of something. If we tend to associate too strongly to our outcomes, our lives will be an emotional roller-coaster, vacillating between elation and depression.  [click here to read Spark Insight: Gratitude]

Journal: The simple law of attraction states that ‘like attracts like’. If our lives are ‘… discovering no mercies…’ we’d do well to look at our habitual thought patterns. Are we practicing gratitude for the things we DO have, or consistently focused on what we DON’T have? As you move though your day – take each meal time to articulate a few things you are grateful for. Jot the most memorable ones in your journal tonight.  [Click here for additional Journal exercises]

Quote of the Day:  When you have a problem, no one says you should ‘stay awake on it. ~ Matthew Walker

Essential Element: Late night television, the internet, 24 hour drive-thrus, and 60-hour work weeks have created a cultural norm of nocturnal living that is unrecognizable to our ancient hard-wiring.  If you are like most people, your body expects and requires more sleep than it gets.  [click here to read Spark Insight: Restorative Sleep]

Journal:  A great indicator of a tired human being is the capacity to fall asleep in down time. Take a quick inventory of your last week: Where was there down time? Did you capitalize on it by deciding to take a nap – or  did you attempt to do something ‘restful’ and wind up falling asleep? Look at the week coming up. Write down three 20 minutes spaces you can afford your self some real rest.  [Click here for additional Journal exercises]

SPARK  ~  Thought of the Day:
Quote of the Day: Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your
work your judgment will be surer.  Go some distance away because then
the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack
of harmony and proportion is more readily seen. ~ Leonardo Da Vinci

Essential Element: In order to ensure maximal complete sleep cycles, humans thrive best when we follow the Circadian Rhythm that is coiled deep inside your DNA.  Dictated by the light of the sun, this rhythm is a physiological set point that has promoted early to bed, early to rise, for millennia. [click here to read Spark Insight: Restorative Sleep]
