Squats are the antidote to sitting (and God knows, we all sit way too much). Great for your spine in general and your lower back in particular. Helps develop core strength, balance, coordination. It’s the perfect exercise.
- Start with a barbell in the rack position
- Keep your gaze forwards
- Lower your body into a squat focusing on maintaining a tall chest and elbows pointed upwards throughout the movement
- Once you reach the bottom of your squat (thigh just below parallel – hip crease below knee), press your feet into the ground, maintaining a proud chest and stand up to full extension.
